Pharmacological effects of Scutellaria Barbata (Ban Zhi Lian)
1. Antibacterial effect: The 50% decoction of Scutellaria Barbata (Ban Zhi Lian) has an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella flexneri, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli using the plate trenching method.
2. Antispasmodic and expectorant effects: The carthamidin contained in this product has a strong anti histamine induced smooth muscle contraction effect and a good expectorant effect.
3. Tumor inhibiting effect: Screening tests using the Meilan test tube method showed that this product has a mild inhibitory effect on acute myeloid leukemia cells; The screening experiment using the cell respirator method showed that the inhibition rate of acute myeloid leukemia blood cells was greater than 75%.
4. Immunomodulatory effect: The polysaccharides contained in this product can promote ConA induced lymphocyte transformation in mouse spleen cells in vitro, with an optimal concentration of 400r/ml. After one week of Sc administration, the percentage of esterase positive cells in peripheral blood lymphocytes of mice was significantly increased, promoting DNCB induced delayed type hypersensitivity. However, high-dose administration (200mg/kg) can inhibit thymic index in mice and has no effect on spleen index.
