Pharmacological Action of Schisandra Chinensis
1. Effect on liver injury: Schisandra chinensis alcohol extract can reduce the elevation of alanine aminotransferase in experimental animals caused by carbon tetrachloride, thioethanolamine, etc γ- Schisandrin (Schisandrin B) has an anti liver injury effect.
2. Effects on the central nervous system: Schisandrin has a wide range of central inhibitory effects and has the characteristic of stabilizing effects. Schisandra Schisandra alcohol extract 5-10mg/kg orally can reduce spontaneous activity in mice, synergize with pentobarbital sodium’s sleep effect on mice, combat amphetamine induced excitement in mice, and combat caffeine and nicotine induced seizures in mice. Schisandrin (Schisandrin A) was injected intraperitoneally at a dose of 10-100mg/kg, which decreased spontaneous activity in mice with increasing dose. 10mg/kg intraperitoneal injection antagonized caffeine and amphetamine induced excitability in mice; Intraperitoneal injection of 60-120mg/kg significantly prolonged the sleep time of mice induced by sodium barbiturate and sodium pentobarbital; Counter convulsions caused by electric shock, pentylenetetrazole, etc. Schisandrin has a wide range of central inhibitory effects and has the characteristic of stabilizing effects.
3. Cardiovascular effects: Schisandra chinensis has a cardiotonic effect, and its aqueous and dilute alcohol extracts can enhance myocardial contractility and increase vascular tension. The decoction in vitro experiment has an inhibitory effect on the ATPase activity of rat myocardial cell membrane; And it has a hypotensive effect on anesthetized dogs.
4. Impact on immune function: It can enhance the body’s defense ability against non-specific stimuli.
5. Antibacterial effect: Ethanol extract has inhibitory effects on Bacillus anthracis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus, Typhoid fever, Vibrio cholerae, etc. in vitro.
