【Botanical source】: Leonurus japonicus Houtt.
【Part used】: Motherwort is the fresh or dry aboveground part of the plant motherwort in the Labiatae family. Fresh products are harvested from the spring seedling stage to the early summer flowering stage; Dry products are harvested and dried in the summer when the stems and leaves are lush, the flowers are not yet in bloom, or when they are first in bloom, or cut into sections for drying. Mainly produced in Henan, Anhui, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places in China.

Identification of Motherwort Herb Recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia
According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix VI B), extract 10μl of each of the above two solutions. Point on the same silica gel G thin layer plate separately, use the developing agent（n-butanol， hydrochloric acid and water in 4:1:0.5 ratio) to develop, remove, air dry, and spray with diluted bismuth potassium iodide test solution. In the chromatogram of the test sample, spots of the same color appear at the corresponding positions as the reference sample chromatogram.
