Pharmacological Action of Gastrodia Elata
(1) Sedation effect
Gastrodia elata and its aglycones, vanillin, and Gastrodia elata polysaccharides.
Mechanism:
1.1. Gastrodia elata glycoside and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the brain γ- Aminobutyric acid has a similar structure. Gastrodin → Gastrodigenin → Brain Benzenediazepine
Receptor binding → sedation.
1.2. Reduce the levels of dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NA) in the brain.
(2) Anticonvulsant
2.1. Gastrodia elata and its aglycones, vanillin, and Gastrodia elata polysaccharides.
2.2. Gastrodial alcohol → inhibits experimental epileptic seizures. The effect is slower than that of phenytoin sodium, but the effective time lasts longer.
(3) Protecting brain nerve cells
Manifestation: 3.1. Improving hypoxia tolerance: Gastrodin → reducing the mortality rate of mice under low-pressure hypoxia. 3.2. Reduce glutamate neurotoxicity: Gastrodia elata → reduce glutamate induced leakage of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and neuronal cell mortality Prevention of ischemia-reperfusion injury: Gastrodia elata → reduces the leakage of LDH in brain nerve cells during ischemia-reperfusion injury, maintains cell membrane fluidity, reduces LPO production, and alleviates neuronal damage.
(4) Anti dizziness: improves the symptoms of anorexia induced by rotation in mice, and counteracts the decrease in spontaneous activity after rotation.
(5) Reduce blood pressure.
(6) Anti platelet aggregation and anti blood clotting.
(7) Anti inflammatory and analgesic effects.
