1. Chemical composition
The stem of Mutong vine contains betulin alcohol, oleanolic acid, ivy saponin, Mutong saponin Sta, Stb, Stc, Std, Ste, Stf, Stg1, Stg2, Sth, Stj, Stk. In addition, it contains stigmasterol β- Sitosterol, carotene, inositol, sucrose potassium salt. Flowers contain cyanidin-3-xylglucoside, cyanidin-3-coumaryl glucoside, and cyanidin-3-coumaryl xyloglucoside.
2. Pharmacological effects
This product has diuretic and antibacterial effects. Chronic diuretic test in rabbits, daily intraperitoneal administration of Mutong alcohol extract 0. 5g/kg, continuously administered for 5 days, has been proven to have diuretic effects, and is stronger than intramuscular injection of 0.1mg/kg mercuric. If given to rabbits by gavage, there is no diuretic effect, but the diuretic effect of intraperitoneal injection can increase urine output by 10.5%, and there is no significant diuretic effect when tested in healthy individuals; Mutong alcohol extract (1:20) has inhibitory effects on both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria such as Shigella and Salmonella in vitro. Mutong water extract (1:5) also has varying degrees of antibacterial effects on Trichophyton violaceus.
