Chemical Composition of Agaricus Blazei
1. Polysaccharides
The polysaccharides content in Agaricus Blazei is as high as 6.55%, mainly extracted from fruiting bodies and mycelium. Among them, ABP – Ⅱ has been preliminarily determined in structure- α、 ABP – Ⅱ- β、 ABM – Ⅰ, ABM – Ⅱ, ABM – Ⅲ α- Glucan and β- Galactose glucan, while the rest are mostly polysaccharides in bold form, such as E-I, fruiting body polysaccharide AB-P, mycelium polysaccharide ATOM, and filtrate polysaccharide AB-FP. Research has shown that its polysaccharide components can have a certain inhibitory effect on various cancer cells.
2.Protein and amino acids
The protein content of Agaricus Blazei is as high as 40% to 50%, and its active protein extracts are ATOM, MTSG1, MTSG2, MTSG3, as well as MTSGS1 and MTSGS2 isolated from MTSG2. The anticancer activity of the anti-tumor proteins it contains is one of the naturally occurring ones with stronger activity. Research has shown that amino acids in the mycelium account for 21.37% of the total amino acids by dry weight, of which 8 essential amino acids for the human body account for 39.7% of the total amino acids. Moreover, the protein in the mycelium has high anti-tumor activity in the body.
3. Other chemical compound
Agaricus Blazei contains various unsaturated fatty acids such as palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and r-linolenic acid, as well as saturated fatty acids such as SFA, PUFA, and MUFA. In addition, there are also various exogenous agglutinins such as lectin A, lectin B, lectin C, and lectin L, as well as alcohols such as Agaricus Blazei and alcohols such as Agaricus Blazei, as well as various vitamins such as vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C, and niacin, as well as K, Ca, Mg, Fe Multiple trace elements such as Mn, Zn, Cu, P, etc.
The pharmacological effects of Agaricus Blazei
1. Antitumor activity
Many studies have been conducted on the pharmacological effects of polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei, especially in the fields of immune regulation and anti-tumor effects in the United States, Japan, and other countries. For example, Dr. Tongfeng from the Ministry of Mie University in Japan fed mice with polysaccharides from 15 edible mushrooms and conducted anti-cancer experiments. The results showed that the recovery rate of polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei was 90.10%, the inhibition rate was 99.4%, and the anti-cancer effect ranked first among the 15 fungi, Tokyo Pharmaceutical University has obtained the same experimental data to verify that the polysaccharide protein nucleic acid in Agaricus blazei also confirms the host mediated anti-tumor activity.
2. Immunomodulatory effect
Agaricus blazei polysaccharides have immunomodulatory effects. Agaricus blazei polysaccharides are not ordinary polysaccharides, they are active polymer compounds that can significantly enhance the human immune system. This ability is mainly achieved through various enhancement and protection functions of cells in the human body. All tissues and organs in the human body are composed of cells. As the smallest unit of life in the human body, the normality of cells directly affects human health. Therefore, only by ensuring the normal survival of cells can human health be achieved. The unique polysaccharide components of Agaricus blazei can activate and strengthen various immune phagocytic cells in the human body, repair various abnormal cells, significantly enhance immunity, and improve the body’s ability to resist radiation and mutations.
Agaricus blazei polysaccharides can also increase the oxygen carrying capacity of hemoglobin in red blood cells by enhancing the production and synthesis of active substances in bone marrow, spleen, liver, and blood; Enhance the activity of various biological enzymes within cells, enhance the detoxification ability, radiation resistance, and chemical resistance of the liver, comprehensively enhance the human immune system, and overall enhance the body’s immune capacity.
3. Repair cell function
Agaricus blazei polysaccharides have the effect of repairing cells. Agaricus blazei polysaccharides can quickly replenish the polysaccharides lacking in the intercellular matrix, ensuring timely repair of cell membranes and safeguarding human health. Polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei can significantly improve the toughness and sealing of cell membranes, enhance the immune ability of cells themselves, which is not possessed by ordinary fungal polysaccharides.
4. Adjusting acid-base balance
Agaricus blazei polysaccharides can regulate acidity and alkalinity. Acidic constitution is the source of all diseases, and the body fluids of normal people are weakly alkaline, with a pH value of 7.35-7.45. An acidic constitution can lead to a decrease in cell viability, enzyme activity, and metabolic levels, resulting in a significant decrease in the body’s immune system and disease resistance. Agaricus blazei is rich in alkaloids and alkaline elements, and is beyond the reach of other foods. Therefore, taking polysaccharides from Agaricus blazei can effectively regulate pH, convert acidic constitution to alkaline, and thus improve the body’s immune capacity.
